Request A Quote +We are delighted to announce our contribution to the groundbreaking Lake Kivu Methane Gas-to-Power Project in Rwanda, a testament to innovation and sustainability. In 2014, SPLK embarked on this project to utilize Lake Kivu's energy potential, targeting a 56 MW annual output. The project gained further support with strategic partnerships and Highland Power Limited's investment in 2019.
For this project, CUMIC successfully supplied 2565 tons of Q235B Hot-rolled steel plate (HRP), which has been used in constructing anchor blocks for the four gas collection platforms, situated 5.5 kilometers offshore. These platforms collect methane from the lake, which is then pressurized and transported to an onshore facility for purification, before being used for electricity generation.
This project is more than just a power generation facility. By capturing and converting methane into electricity, we're tapping into a cleaner energy resource while marking a step further towards more affordable and diversified sources of energy for the local community
Improved Workability: Its availability and the relative ease of working with it (in terms of cutting, welding, and shaping) make it a practical choice for large-scale industrial applications like biogas power generation.
Cost-Effectiveness: The efficient production process of HRP allows for a more economical solution without compromising quality, especially compared to other heavy-duty materials, which makes it a practical choice for large-scale industrial applications like biogas power generation.
Weldability: The properties of HRP make them easier to weld, which is a critical consideration in many construction and manufacturing processes. In this case, the size, shape, and weight of the anchor blocks can be tailored to meet the specific requirements of the biogas project.
As the project progresses, we remain committed to our mission of facilitating global projects that not only meet the demands of today but also pave the way for a sustainable tomorrow. We look forward to the ongoing journey, contributing to sustainable energy solutions, and embracing our role in the advancement of global energy initiatives with both pride and humility.
