We are thrilled to share our contribution to the Osaka Yumeshima Integrated Resort (IR), an ambitious $8 billion development that marks a leap forward in tourism and economic growth for Japan. Jointly developed by MGM Resorts International and Orix Corporation, this resort will feature hotels, a casino, international conference halls, and an array of entertainment venues—all designed to position Osaka as a leading global tourist destination.
In this project, CUMIC is proud to have supplied more than 7000 tons of SS400 H-beams (equal to S275JR). Known for their balanced strength and weldability, these beams will serve as critical support structures for the IR’s main facilities, ensuring durability and safety. With construction set to begin in April 2025 and complete in 2030, the resort is expected to play a pivotal role in Osaka’s economic diversification.
Spanning across the artificial island of Yumeshima in Osaka Bay, the IR will boost Japan’s tourism capacity by offering a wide range of amenities—complete with exhibition and conference centers, cultural attractions, hotels, and dining options. This vast complex aims to enhance regional economic development and showcase Osaka’s potential as a world-class destination, attracting millions of visitors each year.
· High Load-Bearing Capacity:
With a minimum tensile strength of 400 MPa, it is designed to withstand heavy loads, making it ideal for structural applications in large-scale construction projects. Its robust design ensures stability and durability, even in high-stress environments like multi-story buildings, bridges, and industrial facilities.
· Excellent Weldability:
The steel’s chemical composition allows for seamless welding, enabling the fabrication of complex structures without compromising strength. This feature is particularly valuable in construction projects where precision and efficiency are critical.
· Resistance to Stress and Corrosion:
The steel is engineered to resist stress and corrosion, ensuring long-term performance in challenging environments. This makes it suitable for use in coastal areas or regions with harsh weather conditions.
· Enhanced Structural Integrity:
The H-shaped design of the beam provides superior weight distribution and structural stability. This feature is particularly beneficial for constructing large, open spaces like convention centers, exhibition halls, and tourism Resort.
