We are thrilled to announce our contribution to the Air Products Darrow Blue Energy Facility, a $4.5 billion project in Louisiana, USA. This transformative initiative positions Louisiana as a global leader in low-carbon hydrogen production while creating 170 permanent jobs with a $15.9 million annual payroll and 2,000 construction jobs over three years. Announced in 2021, the project has received final investment approval and is set to begin operations in 2026.
CUMIC supplied 433 tons of HRP SA-516 GR.70, a high-performance steel essential for constructing critical pressure vessels and infrastructure. Known for its strength, toughness, and weldability, this steel grade ensures the safety and efficiency of large-scale industrial operations, playing a pivotal role in this groundbreaking project.
Located in Ascension Parish, the facility will be the world’s largest "blue" hydrogen manufacturing plant, producing hydrogen while capturing and storing over 5 million tons of CO2 annually. The hydrogen will power Air Products' 700-mile pipeline network and be converted into "blue" ammonia for international markets, setting a new benchmark for clean energy innovation.
