Project Story

We are proud to announce our significant supply to Petrobras' flagship projects, the P-80 and P-83 Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) vessels. These projects, spearheaded by Keppel Offshore & Marine, are set to play a crucial role in the expansion of the Buzios oil field in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil. As two of the largest floating production units in the world, the P-80 and P-83 will mark a significant milestone in Brazil’s oil and gas industry, reinforcing the country's position as a global energy leader.

For these groundbreaking projects, we supplied 400 tons of HRP AH 36, a high-strength steel plate specifically engineered for marine and offshore applications. This material was carefully chosen for its exceptional durability, toughness, and weldability, making it ideal for the demanding conditions of deep-sea environments. Our steel will serve as the structural foundation for the FPSOs, ensuring their reliability and safety in one of the most challenging environments in the world.

Petrobras has planned for a total of 12 FPSOs. The P-80 and P-83 FPSOs will each produce 225,000 barrels of oil per day (boe/d), inject 250,000 barrels of water per day, process 12 million cubic meters of gas daily, and store two million barrels of oil. These FPSOs represent cutting-edge production technology and are essential components of Petrobras' strategy to increase Brazil's oil output.

Key Features of AH36 HRP

Superior Structural Integrity: AH36 HRP offers high yield and tensile strength, which is essential for supporting the massive structural loads of these large-scale FPSOs.

Adaptability and Workability: The steel’s excellent weldability and formability allow for efficient fabrication and assembly, which are critical in complex offshore construction.

Long-Term Durability: Designed to resist the corrosive effects of saltwater and harsh marine environments, AH36 HRP ensures that the FPSOs will maintain their structural integrity over decades of operation, minimizing maintenance needs.

Safety and Reliability: CUMIC's ship plate complies with the stringent standards set by leading classification societies such as ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, GL, KR, LR, NK, RINA, and ZY, ensuring the highest levels of safety and quality.

Our involvement in the FPSO projects is not just about supplying steel; it’s about contributing to the future of global energy. These FPSOs will significantly enhance Brazil's oil production capabilities, supporting the country’s energy need. As the global demand for energy and infrastructure continue to rise, we stand ready to support the next generation of construction projects with the materials and expertise that drive success.
